Summary:
Pronounced "Rig Veda," this was Clamp's first release as an official manga group. Spanning 10 volumes, the complex story weaves its tale around a large cast of characters. "The Six Stars" are a small group of individuals who come together to oppose Taishakuten, the cruel emperor of the world. At the heart of these Stars is Ashura, a young child with a terrible secret and special fate.
RG Veda is a hefty read, rather violent and bloody, and many characters meet their doom. Nevertheless, it's an interesting tale, kind of a loose precursor to X/1999, what with the "fate vs. choice" theme.
No TV series was ever produced, but a rather subpar 2-part OAV was created (though left unfinished). I have fond feelings for the OAV, however, as it was the first anime I ever watched (and it's REALLY cheap).
This manga is currently being published in English by Tokyopop.
