Summary:
In a cyberpunk world of advanced technology, Kazuhiko, a former black-ops agent for the government, has been called out of retirement to transport a girl, Sue, to a place of her choice. Sue is no ordinary girl, however. She's a government experiment, a project so top secret that she's kept away from people despite her longing for love.
In the manga, which ultimately explores the need for human companionship and love, Sue reveals that she knew Kazuhiko's now-dead lover, Ora. The third manga explores his relationship with her. We also meet Ran and Gingetsu, who assist Kazuhiko and Sue in their quest.
Clover spans 4 volumes, the first two being a complete story, the third manga being a prequel and the forth being a pre-prequel. All four volumes are available in English from Tokyopop. The art of Clover is more sparse, more "arty" than other Clamp works and consequently also more evocative. There is no anime for Clover, though a Clover music video was created and shown in Japan after a CardCaptor Sakura movie, but it has never been released on VHS or DVD anywhere. Clover is my favorite manga!
